Kitty Pearl Moeran- BA (Hons) Fine Art and Art History
Kitty Pearl Moeran’s practice explores the dense core of written language through drawing. As Moeran has developed this approach she has come to view it as a method of writing that falls beyond a learnt vocabulary. The forms that unfold give way to marks that oscillate between the unknown and a form of something legible. Moeran’s ability to traverse the abstract and energetic potential of language results in the amplification of gesture that enters the viewer into an unseen landscape of communication. Furthering this exploration from her monumental drawings, Moeran extracts, translates and preserves her work through screenprinting and the traditional, narrative techniques of sewing and patchwork. The manipulated material used, extends the cycle of her initial drawings by becoming a vessel for intangible to be touched.
