My Motherland
Niamh Pettitt is an artist moving image maker originally from the North East , now based in Manchester. Her work primarily lies with analog film working across enviroments current and past, drawing and exploring from personal experiences. Niamhs practice is community based film and art surrounding subjects such as recovery, mental wellbeing and exploration of performance.
"Grief , hope , love and a kite. My Motherland is a reflection of Director Niamh Pettitts' childhood in her home town of South Shields and her relationship with her mothers battle with addiction and how this shaped her in adulthood. The journey allows us to observe the power struggles of letting go of the past and growing as a person. Representing the challenges that underprivledge youth face whilst overcoming adversities and how performance can become a physical therapy."
