Grainne Walsh- BA (Hons) Illustration with Animation
Gráinne Walsh is an illustrator and artist with a keen interest in the surreal and macabre, exploring key themes of feminism, spiritualism and horror. Gráinne’s main passion of communication lies in the art of storytelling-which she finds to be a powerful medium that has the ability to tap into anyone’s emotions and create immersive atmospheres that you can get lost in. She draws inspiration from both her own life experiences as well as fictional stories. Influenced by artists such as David Lynch and Tracey Emin, Gráinne’s current preferred method of working is with ink and brush, to generate automatic draw pieces. This refers to a surrealist technique that creates pieces that bypass the subconscious, aiming to capture natural mark-making and embrace them into a final piece. However, whilst this is her preferred medium, Gráinne is capable of utilizing a variety of mediums such as animation both digital and traditional, printmaking and 3D sculpting such as mask-making.
