Block by Block

Block by Block, the environment builds connection. This inclusive, sensory play-scape promotes comfort, curiosity and collaboration through tactile, flexible structures and shared moments of play, allowing for children of all neurotypes to meet on common ground. The space transforms sensory experience into opportunity where social skills emerge naturally through making, moving and building together. The visual concept for this project is rooted in the language of building blocks, using simple geometric forms to shape both the physical space and its underlying meaning. These block-like elements aim to create a playful yet structured environment that supports a play-scape, assessment rooms, a café and artworkshops. Beyond their visual clarity, the blocks symbolise growth, learning and the gradual building of skills, relationships and confidence. Inspired by strong, sculptural forms, I, as a designer, focus on transforming these simple geometric shapes to create an immersive spatial experience, being influenced by our architectural and natural surroundings. Rooted in a wide breadth of contextual development, I aim to adapt forms into an interior sculpture that can change the user’s emotions, experience and journey positively.
