Everybody Eats
My practice focuses on creating playful and expressive work for young audiences, building colourful worlds shaped by gentle storytelling. I work across both traditional and digital media, with a recent pivot towards painted‑paper collage that brings texture, spontaneity, and a handmade attribute to my illustrations. Inspired by whimsy and the natural world, my characters, settings, and visual details are often influenced by the landscapes and creatures that fuel my imagination. I aim to nurture creativity, empathy, and a sense of belonging in young readers. Inclusivity and diversity are central to my practice. I’m committed to creating stories where every child can see themselves reflected, as well as offering young readers a space to encounter and appreciate experiences different from their own. My recent synthesis project, Everybody Eats, demonstrates this framework. The book uses the everyday act of eating as a way to explore and celebrate diversity, showing that differences in how we eat can be both normal and joyful. Through tactile collage and engaging spreads, the project aims to make all children feel accepted, valued, and included.
